Revolution at The Flea - NYC 2025

​This is a play about generosity and curiosity. 
It’s about the fact that everyone is looking for something. 
It's about how everyone is a little cracked but also impossible to break. 
It’s about how your lost can be someone else's found. 
It's about how magic can and, in fact must, come out of real life and real challenges.

I think we are living in a time when a lot of things feel very much out of our control. I think many of us are a little anxious in the way that Puff is anxious. We've got history and secrets, in the way that Jame does. And, I think, like Georgia, we have thoughts that make us want to blur the lines between fact and fiction just to get through the day. This play has shown me that however small the truth telling is, it makes a difference and reminds me that people are always capable of responding with creativity and a lack of selfishness.

When I first started working on this project I thought of Revolution as the overthrow of an existing regime, and I kept looking for that in the play and it is there in places... Puff is the new salon manager and Jame is on hand to support that. Georgia is also making some changes in her life, shifting some priorities etc. But recently I have come to think of the other meaning of Revolution: to turn, to revolve, to move in a circular orbit around a fixed point. These three women are moving in their own orbits, tracing their own circles in their lives and around the sun and they are brought together, beautifully, magically, at this one moment to celebrate Puff's 26th Revolution around the sun.
